To support the Kenya Prisons Service (KPS) safeguard the health of prisoners and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Independent Medico-Legal Unit (IMLU) donated vital hygiene supplies to the Nairobi Medium Prison Deputy Officer-in-Charge SSP Kuloba.
IMLU focused on the provision of sanitation and hygiene donations following a government directive barring all visitors, including family members and other stakeholders from gaining access to the prison institutions. Prior to this ban, family members used to supply to their kin in prison basic commodities such as soap, toothpaste, toiletries and other hygiene equipment to maintain their level of cleanliness.
The supplies comprised of protective gloves, hand sanitizers, tissue papers, masks and gloves. The goods were handed over on behalf of our donors by the IMLU Executive Director Peter Kiama. He applauded KPS on their ongoing health, prevention and containment guidelines being implemented with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I wish to acknowledge the generous support of IMLU who have realigned funding to assist KPS with its COVID-19 contingency planning and we look forward to the continued cooperation between our organizations,” SSP Kuloba said.
