The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) held this years Outstanding Police Service Awards (OPSA) in May in a colourful event that was graced by the CS Interior and Coordination of National Security Joseph Nkaiserry. This is an initiative by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) together with the National Police Service Commission (NPSC); the National Police Service (Kenya Police Service, Administration Police Service and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations); the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR); the Rotary Club of Nairobi; Usalama Reforms Forum; Transparency International among other many partners to recognize Outstanding Police Officers and Police Facilities in delivery of policing services.

With the August polls fast approaching, IMLU trained 29 monitors to monitor Election Security across 20 counties which had been mapped as hot spot areas by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), National Police Service (NPS) and Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) among other bodies. The monitors will specifically highlight issues of police deployment, public order management and the chain of command during such operations.

The Independent Medico-Legal Unit was represented at the forum by the Executive Director Peter Kiama in a bid to foster even more partnerships and cooperation in the fight for human rights.
